Open Nominations for Faculty Senate Officers

As per Article V ("Officers") of the Faculty Senate Bylaws, the Nominations, Elections, and Governance (NEG) Committee is pleased to open nominations for the following leadership positions, which would begin Fall 2021:     

  • President – Term 2021-2023
  • Secretary – Term 2021-2023*
  • Vice President, Professional Staff - Term 2021-2022*
  • Vice President, Teaching Faculty - Term 2021-2022*

Nominations should be submitted via email to NEG Chair, Mary Timmons by noon, Friday, April 30, 2021. All candidate nominations must be accompanied by a candidate statement of no more than 500 words outlining the individual's qualifications, reasons for running, goals of service, and/or any other professional/biographical information that would help voters make their decisions.

All nominations will be verified by NEG by Wednesday, May 5, 2021, after which point electronic ballots will be prepared. Balloting will take place electronically, under the auspices of Institutional Research, from May 10-14, 2021. The winning officers will be declared at the Thursday, June 3, 2021 Faculty Senate meeting.

Additional details:

  • Candidates for President may be any member of the voting faculty as defined by Article IV, Section 1
  • Candidates for Secretary may be any member of the voting faculty as defined by Article IV, Section 1
  • Candidate for Vice President, Teaching faculty, may be any member of the full-time teaching faculty as defined by the FA contract
  • Candidates for Vice President, Professional Staff, may be any member of the full-time professional staff as defined by the FA contract

*Pending Approval of Bylaw amendments proposals by Board of Trustees.
-Vice Presidents’ terms will be adjust this election only to stagger election years as stipulated in Proposal #4  Article VI - Elections Section 1. Senators   C) Terms of Office 3(a) 
-Secretary position will be created as stipulated in Proposal #3 Reinstituting Faculty Senate Secretary Officer Position, Article V – Officers   Section 3  
-If proposals are not approved, we will following current Bylaws
