Additional Awards Available to Support a Mindful and Inclusive Community

The Diversity Council is pleased to announce that additional funds are available for the 2009-10 academic year to support learning and activities that enhance our knowledge, awareness, and appreciation of diversity.

To date this year, one initiative has been funded: Along the Silk Road.

No doubt you will be hearing more about this event in the near future.

The Direction Six Subcommittee, Responding to Fiscal Challenges, of the Diversity Council has established an application process for these funds similar to the process for awarding internal Strategic Planning and Foundation Awards.  The Direction Six Subcommittee will review applications for activities that support diversity and inclusiveness and recommend awards from the available funds.

While all applications will be considered, special emphasis is being placed on awarding funds to support initiatives related to Direction One of the 2007-2011 Strategic Plan, Forging Connections: Serving Community Needs:  Promoting Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Attached please find the application and more information about this program.  The deadline to submit an application is November 24, 2009.

The Direction Six Subcommittee members are: Pat Bates, Kimberley Collins, Marianne Dorsey, Susan Murphy, Martha Maher-Garcia, Laurel Sanger, Patricia Williams, Kimberley Willis.
