HSMI to Launch Pilot Program for Monroe County Sheriff’s Office

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, like most law enforcement agencies, often struggles to provide staff with yearly training mandates and requirements. One such requirement is the federal radiological training for emergency workers who may be called to respond to an incident at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.

HSMI, working in conjunction with the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management, is developing a pilot program for online training to the Sheriff’s Office that will meet the federal requirements. The program can be delivered during roll call and made available anytime and anywhere for deputies whose assignments could place them within the 10-mile radius of Ginna.

The pilot program is scheduled for delivery to the County Sheriff’s Zone A location by mid-April and will result in saving both overtime dollars and valuable training time. HSMI plans to expand the program to the Webster Police Department and will transition other training requirements to online formats.
