Identity Theft is when an impostor obtains personal information identifying key pieces such as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers and uses them for their own personal gain. Over 11 million Americans fell victim to identity theft last year, which is up 11% from 2008.
You can monitor your accounts by requesting a free credit report from the three credit bureaus at "https://www.annualCreditReport.com". AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to help consumers obtain their free credit reports.
