Information Night at Lancaster Speedway

It wasn’t Miss Spider’s New Car, but perhaps it was MCC’s Baja vehicle that attracted young adults to inquire about the GM ASEP, Toyota/Lexus and Tooling and Machining (TAM) programs. Bob Lasch, TAM program coordinator; Kristy Mooney Graves, automotive program coordinator; and faculty from MCC’s Applied Technologies Center discussed the A.A.S. and certificate programs during Western New York Auto Students Night at Lancaster Speedway last Friday evening, Sept. 30, which drew about 2,500 people.

Enrollment in TAM is slowly increasing, given a recent news conference addressing the manufacturing industry’s massive layoffs in large companies. Smaller employers continue to look for highly qualified students. And nearly every MCC grad for the past decade has been offered at least one job upon graduation. Applications are available for spring admissions. The automotive programs, while succeeding in enrollment numbers, are looking for dealerships and other employers, especially in the Syracuse area, who can support apprenticeships.

If you know of anyone interested in either opportunity, call Kristy at 292-3735 ( mailto:kgraves@monroecc.edu ) or Bob at 292-3748 ( mailto:blasch@monroecc.edu ).
