Babitz Wins National Award for Best Practices, Distinguished Service

Monroe Community College Foundation President Brenda Babitz is one of the winners of the 2007 CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Commonfund Award for Institutionally Related Foundation Management. The award recognizes best practices, distinguished service, management expertise, volunteer leadership, advocates, advisors, and others influencing public higher education through foundations. Under Babitz’s leadership, the MCC Foundation is regarded as a model for foundations within New York state and across the country. Babitz was also recognized for her generous service as mentor, CASE conference faculty member and author. She will receive her award in San Diego, Calif. in April.

The CASE Commonfund Institutionally Related Foundation Awards are supported by a generous gift from Commonfund. The Common Fund for Nonprofit Organizations (Commonfund) was founded in 1971 to enhance the financial resources of nonprofit institutions and to help them improve investment management practices. As the largest nonprofit investment manager, Commonfund served over 1,600 clients and passed $37 billion in assets under management in 2006.
