Eminent Scholar Award Named for Bartholome

The Governing Board of the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association has voted to name its eminent scholar award for Dr. Lynn Bartholome, professor, English and philosophy.

The Association’s highest award for scholarship, the eminent scholar award recognizes significant contributions by a scholar working in a field under the umbrella of popular or American culture. Those chosen are selected by a committee and approved by the PCA/ACA Governing Board. In naming its most prestigious scholarly award for Dr. Bartholome, the Association recognizes her contributions to advancing study in the fields of popular and American culture through extraordinary stewardship of PCA/ACA during one of the most turbulent periods in its history. Serving as president for two terms, Dr. Bartholome guided the association through its transition from an institution-based, largely volunteer-driven organization to the professional model on which it now operates. PCA/ACA honors her commitment to both popular culture scholarship and to the Association’s long-term stability and mission of being the foremost academic association in the field of popular culture.

The Dr. Lynn G. Bartholome Eminent Scholar Award will be presented to scholar Dr. Jane Caputi at its 2016 National Conference in Seattle in March. At that time, there will also be a reception in Bartholome’s honor.
