Students Demonstrate Making Mulled Apple Cider Today

WHAT: A group of Monroe Community College’s Hospitality students will partner with Wagner Farms to demonstrate how to make mulled apple cider using an antique cider press and locally grown apples. The purpose of the event is for students with an interest in agriculture and hospitality to learn about local farm products and the process of making apple cider.

All MCC students are welcome to attend the event and will have an opportunity to participate. They will learn about some of the components of flavor in apples and apple cider. Students will also gain further understanding of the local economy and its agricultural roots. Last year, the event served 500 tastings of apple cider.

WHERE: On the lawn outside Gilman Lounge, adjacent to Building 19, on MCC’s Brighton Campus, 1000 E. Henrietta Road. Tents will be set up.

WHEN: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17th

DETAILS: A peeling demonstration from F.B. Pease Company Inc. will be provided. Students will have an opportunity to use the hand-operated peeler. Gene, Mary and Sue Wagner from Wagner Farms, in Fairport, N.Y., will join students in demonstrating the apple cider process.

The event is sponsored by MCC’s Hospitality Department and the Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute.
