Social Media Update and Audit News

When MCC went remote two months ago, social media stepped up to keep us all connected. In addition to informing us, reassuring us and sharing good news, our social channels immediately became an indispensable way for the College to maintain two-way communication. These channels served as a conduit between students and parents in distress and the college department professionals who could best help them. Engagement rose significantly as members of the MCC community continued to try and remain in touch.

Our social media team has continued to work tirelessly to educate and engage the general public - to support the success of our students, to promote the innovative efforts of faculty and staff, and to provide a broad audience with valuable information and life-changing opportunities. Projects have included: Women's History Month Tributes, a Counseling and Disability Services video, a COVID-19 video dedicated to the perseverance of students and faculty, a wonderful post featuring Nursing Professor Judy Wilson with her dachshund Frank, and a series highlighting the availability of Admissions and Advisement professionals.

We are greatly indebted to the many members of the MCC community who have so generously supported social media by offering content and following the College's channels. We would also like to applaud social media managers for their wonderful work on MCC department channels, such as Instagram's @MCC_FYE, @lovebettermcc, @themccbookstore, and @mcctribunes as well as Facebook's @MCCFoundation and @mcclibraries. Their work on social media has played an integral role in the health and well-being of the people of the college -- students, faculty, staff and community. We are extremely grateful for their continued efforts.

I would like to thank Janet Ekis, Craig Watkins, Rosanne Rivers, Deb Davis and Phil Osterling from the Marketing and Web team for the ongoing commitment to enrollment and student success. Their work on insuring our Social Media reaches and engages our audience is appreciated, and should be commended.

Adhering to the College's social media protocol and guidelines is a vital component of ensuring MCC's standard of excellence on digital spaces. As our social media team prepares to perform its annual audit, we would encourage all social media account managers to revisit the existing MCC protocol and guidelines. We'll be in touch.
