Grammar Hacks


Looking for ways to help your students improve their own grammar, mechanics, style, and citation habits? You can send students to the Writing Center and the Center for Academic Reading where tutors have access to MCC’s Custom Hacker Pocket Style Manual. Or, students can go to the Brighton Campus or Damon Campus library to use the book on reserve. Fifty-seven sections of English, TRS, and WAC courses required or recommended the book this fall, so your student may already have a copy.

MCC’s Custom Hacker Pocket Style Manual provides guidance on grammar, mechanics, and clarity. It includes guidelines for multiple citation practices, information on writing in the disciplines, and tips from MCC Professors on reading and writing.

Thanks to all the Hacker users who returned a survey this fall. We have compiled them and created “Grammar Hacks.” This tip sheet notes a few ways professors at MCC utilize the book’s resources. See the attachment below.
