An Inspiring Day for MCC Upward Bound Students!

On Saturday October 17th, 8 young ladies from the MCC Upward Bound program attended the Women Helping Girls Voting workshop. The workshop included a presentation by a panel of young women who are seeking offices. They included LaShana Boose, LaShay Harris and Valencia Metcalf.

The three young women shared stories of their political journeys and expressed how important it is to vote. A lively discussion about current local and national candidates for offices ensued. The young ladies were then welcomed to ask the three candidates any questions they had about their political journeys and/or backgrounds.  The ladies also listened to a presentation by Ms. Black New York 2015, Ms. Kade Henderson. Ms. Henderson shared her experience of dealing with adversity and expressed the courage she had to achieve her dreams and become a successful young women at just 21 years old. The day ended after a photo op with Ms. Henderson. Overall, it was an inspiring day for our 8 young ladies and all other attendees.
