Please join us for the Writing Center Workshop, How to Proofread More Effectively.

When:  Wednesday, November 14, 2012
Time:  12:00 p.m. – 12:50 p.m.
Where:  Room 9-233
Presenter:  Jean McDonough, Academic Support Services

The “How To Proofread More Effectively” workshop will also be conducted at the Damon City Campus on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the college hour (12 noon), by Aman Malik, in a room to be announced.

According to Mark Twain, you think you are proofreading, but you are merely reading your own mind; your statement is full of holes and vacancies, but you don’t know it because you are filling them from your mind as you go along.  No matter how carefully we examine a text, it seems there is always one more little blunder waiting to be discovered.

There’s no foolproof formula for perfect proofreading every time.  As Twain realized, it’s just too tempting to see what we meant to write rather than the words that actually appear on the page or screen.  But this interactive workshop should help you see (or hear) your errors before anybody else does.

Hope to see you there!
