Anthony DiPonzio coming to MCC on Monday, April 2, 2012

Monday, April 2nd is the first day of the 3rd annual Enough is Enough Campaign.  This year the Keynote Speaker will be Anthony DiPonzio.

The 23-year-old officer Rochester Police Officer was shot in the back of the head while investigating complaints of drug activity in a Rochester neighborhood. He underwent brain surgery, but the prognosis for his recovery remains unclear. Police say DiPonzio and two fellow officers had questioned a group of people on the street. As they turned to walk away from the group, shots were fired.   It took nearly three years of intensive rehabilitation, but Rochester Police Officer Anthony DiPonzio is back on the job after being shot in the back of the head in January of 2009.  Fourteen-year-old Tyquan Rivera was convicted of attempted murder in that shooting.

Opening up for Anthony DiPonzio is Rochester Police Officer Moses Robinson who is a dynamic speaker and an expert in Youth Gang Violence.

Don’t miss this Kick-off Event on Monday April 2nd, noon in Monroe A and B.

The Enough is Enough Campaign is an annual event hosted by The Civility Project; Making Courtesy Common, and is a Campaign to Stem Societal Violence.  This concept came out of NASPA’s keynote address by the VP of Virginia Tech in the wake of the recent shooting.  The campaign’s goal is to provide model strategies for broad-based interventions addressing youth violence on the nation's campuses through innovative partnerships between students, parents, and administrators.  If you would like to know more about the Enough is Enough Campaign, please visit https://www.naspa.org/enough/default2.cfm.

Attached you will find the full schedule of events starting Monday, April 2nd – Thursday, April 5th.  You do not want to miss this week full of celebration, education and community!
