News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Board Room, Spina Administration Building on the Brighton Campus on Monday, October 21 and took the following actions:

1.      Accepted the interim financial reports as of July 31 and August 31.

2.      Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of July and August, 2013.

3.      Adopted a policy entitled “College Contracts Policy” dated September 1, 2013.

4.      Approved the appointment of Kristen Love as Assistant to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Services, effective August 19, 2013.

5.      Approved the appointment of April Hill as Assistant Director, Human Resources, effective August 20, 2013.

6.      Approved a Homeland Security certificate program, subject to approval by the State University of New York.

7.      Adopted a policy entitled “Arming Members of the Public Safety Department” dated September 1, 2013,  which authorizes the president of MCC to designate properly licensed and trained members of the Public Safety Department, including but not limited to peace officers, to possess and carry a firearm as part of their on-duty employment, as provided by NYS Education Law Section 6306(5a) and NYS Penal Law Section 265.01(a).

8.      Honored and thanked Trustee Kenneth G. Goode for his years of service as chair of the MCC Board of Trustees.

Board Chair John Bartolotta welcomed new board member Kevin Stickles, who replaces former trustee Richard Hannon. Mr. Hannon resigned from the board due to his relocation out of the area.

The Board also heard presentations from MCC Foundation Chair Dan Burns and MCC Veterans Services Coordinator Eric Wheeler, and viewed a video introducing the College’s new logo and revitalized brand.
