Get "Down and Dirty" on MCC's Summer Archaeological Dig!

Howard Carter's discovery of the royal tomb of King Tut in the early 1920s sent waves of Egypto-mania across much of Europe and America, but you don't have to travel to exotic lands to feel the thrill of discovery!  MCC has its own archaeological "dig" and we're running another summer fieldschool at the 19th-century Bittner farmstead for 3 college credits. ANT 205-800 consists of a two-week hands-on course  during Summer Session II from July 11-26. Dr. Ann Morton, adjunct professor of anthropology, will continue the work of Prof. David Day supervising the summer excavation. Here's a sample of what one of her students said about last summer's Fieldschool experience: "

"Right before lunch, I literally looked down and found a tusk!. I pushed the dirt around a little and found a jawbone with three teeth in it!"

For a short video of our work, go to MCC's Web page, click on "Anthropology" and click on the R-News video clip. Some of the recovered artifacts are on display in the display case in the Building 6, 3rd-floor hallway.
