Summer Hours at MCC: Discussions Continue

As we enter summer 2021, our second summer in a global pandemic, MCC seeks to find ways to allow our dedicated employees an opportunity to rest and recharge in preparation for the academic year ahead. Discussions continue regarding MCC's Summer Hours schedule and potential options. Under the proposed schedule, employees would work additional hours Monday – Thursday, so that the College may close early on Friday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. (article).

Your questions continue to inform discussions. More details, including an FAQ document, will be shared next week.

Human Resources is working with bargaining unit leadership to address departmental and individual work scenarios that may not fit neatly into the Summer Hours schedule.  For example, departments where individuals have start/end times outside the 8:45 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. workday.  The intent is to collaborate to identify solutions to these scenarios so that these employees are able to benefit in some way from the Summer Hours schedule, without running afoul of Labor Law or collective bargaining agreement requirements.

If you have specific questions about how the Summer Hours schedule will impact you, please present them to your department head who will forward them to the respective Cabinet member.
