MCC's Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Theta Iota Chapter Receives Chapter, Officer Awards

Please join me in congratulating MCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Theta Iota chapter officers and members who were recognized as New York’s Most Distinguished chapter and one of the top 100 chapters in the world at the 30th Annual New York Regional Convention and the 98th Annual Phi Theta Kappa International Convention. The Most Distinguished Chapter is given when chapters implement successful College Projects and Honors In Action projects.

In addition, Amanda Smith, Alpha Theta Iota Chapter Vice President of College Project, received New York’s Most Distinguished chapter officer award.  The College Project is an initiative that supports the College’s mission.  The chapter’s “My College of Choice” campaign was this year’s initiative.  The Honors In Action projects, incorporate academic research and analysis, leadership roles and development, and an action component.  Lead by Professor Scott Rudd, the students examined “What factors contribute to the development and persistence of stereotypes within our society and what actions can we take to raise awareness and disrupt the cycle”.
