Community Against Racism Film Series Event, November 14

Enjoy refreshments and lively conversation after the screening of the short documentary film, "Made in India." David Day, professor, Anthropology, will lead a discussion on a pioneering incident of rural development and women's economic empowerment in India. Set in a country fraught with unemployment, poverty and the perils of a liberalizing market, the film tells the story of a project which enabled poor women to organize a trade union, a bank and social welfare services.

The event is sponsored by the Community Against Racism task force in their series on Economic Justice in Our Shrinking World, and is free and open to the public. The film will be shown in the auditorium of the First Unitarian Church, 220 South Winton Road at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14.
