RMAPI presentation on Unmarried and Single Parents in Poverty next week

On Tuesday, March 10, Henry Fitts, Director, Mayor's Office of Innovation, and Mary Ann M. DeMario, Institutional Research, will each present their research on parents living in poverty.

Henry will present findings from the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative (RMAPI) report titled, Unmarried and Single Parents in Poverty. According to this study conducted by the City of Rochester and RMAPI, in Monroe County, unmarried households with children account for the largest subgroup of households living in poverty. To help reduce the poverty rate and foster student success, it is important to have a clear understanding of the challenges and experiences this population faces, and how it impacts our community. Visit https://www.cityofrochester.gov/innovation/ to download the full report.

Mary Ann will present findings from her research on MCC Student-Parents, in particular Single Mom Learners. She will also speak about the Single Moms Success Design Challenge, a human-centered design initiative that aims to increase MCC Single Mom Learners' graduation and transfer rates by 30%.

All are welcome to join us for an interactive discussion on Tuesday, March 10th, from 12:00pm - 1:00pm, in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Empire Room).
