COVID-19 does not stop engineering students: Testing the Security Alarm System

The engineering student in professor Pultorak’s Digital System course is testing out a circuit that includes a state machine sequencing circuit to provide a security capability.  Whenever the incorrect sequence is executed, the circuit will allow a tone frequency to pass to a speaker and sound off as an alarm.  The alarm signal waveform is displayed on the oscilloscope.

The hands-on experiments allow students to appreciate the importance of accurate scientific measurements and collaborations to understand the engineering subject matter.
