The Sixth Act Offers a Special Opportunity for MCC Students to See RED at Geva!

Geva Theatre Center has always offered group rates, generally running around $26. The Sixth Act is experimenting with Geva to offer, for the first time ever, an ongoing special student group rate of only $15. This rate is only available for students in MCC classes that choose to attend a special designated performance.

THIS FALL, THE DESIGNATED PERFORMANCE WILL BE JOHN LOGAN’S AWARD-WINNING PLAY “RED” ON THE EVENING OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29.

The New York Times calls Red an “exciting two-character bio-drama” about the 20th-century artist Mark Rothko. According to the Times, much of the play “unfolds as a combative Socratic dialogue between teacher and pupil, a master class of questions and answers about the methods and purpose of Rothko’s art.” Geva’s production promises to provoke questions relevant to the work, as so many of us do with our students.

If you’re even remotely interested in this opportunity, please contact Maria Brandt at<mailto:mbrandt@monroecc.edu>  before September 20.

The Sixth Act is excited for the potential of this partnership to offer MCC classes the opportunity to see live, professional theater at a substantially lower price than ever before. At $15 a ticket, faculty simply could add the ticket to their list of required textbooks—and thereby open an entire world to all of our students.
