Clarke Presents Paper at Annual Scholars' Conference

Psychology Professor Charles Clarke presented the paper "Engaging the Holocaust Narrative with a Secular Midrash" at the 35th annual Scholars' Conference on the Holocaust and the Churches on March 7 in Philadelphia, Pa. Within the paper, Clarke states "It is imperative that all humans enter into a dialogue with the Holocaust myth. It permits the possibility of discerning a new vision for sustaining and celbrating life, affirming community and accepting the inevitble diversity of the unfolding universe."

The conference was founded in 1970 by Franklin H. Littell and Hubert G. Locke as an interfaith, interdisciplinary and international organization. It is the oldest continuing meeting of its kind in the world and the first to bring together Jewish and Christian scholars. Both Littell and Locke have visited MCC's campuses during the past year through Holocaust Genocide Studies Project activities. Clarke currently serves as director of the project. The theme of this year's conference was "New Threats and Sowing Seeds of Hope: Operation Early Warning."
