SUNY Statement on Earth Day

The Largest System of Public Higher Education Celebrates Earth Day with This Video

“Throughout our system, there are many different ways that we recognize this day, with our students and faculty leading the way and showing how higher education and SUNY can solve for the world’s environmental challenges. Through our research on campuses, we’re finding how best to power the most efficient electrical vehicle, how we can reduce our waste, and how we can contribute to developing new sources of energy—our institutions are the root and foundations for environmental and clean energy discoveries, and we must continue to always provide that spark that spurs the innovative energy in our students and faculty. What we do best as a collective is asking tough questions of ourselves and our leadership to do better, and lead this planet to a better place for generations of SUNY students to come.

"We must make daily decisions with our planet and environment in mind. As science shows, failure to do so may result in leaving behind a world that will become increasingly uninhabitable in the future. The power to make our world safer lies in our hands, and SUNY will always put the sustainability and the betterment of our planet first.” -- SUNY Board of Trustees and Chancellor Jim Malatras
