Quotes That Inspire

Election Week 2020 feels like a continuation of the uncertainty we've been living for the past eight months. We work in ways that add other dimensions of uncertainty - remote teaching, on campus labs, pooled testing, and Zoom meetings. Add to that being uncertain about the upcoming holidays. Is it safe to get together? What kind of holiday can we have?

While so much in our lives feels unfair and outside our control right now, remember, you hired an eternal optimist as your Interim President.

"Every single one of us matters, has a role to play, makes a difference. We cannot live through a day without impacting the world around us--and we have a choice, what sort of impact do we want to make?" -- Jane Goodall, renowned primatologist

When overwhelmed with the uncertainties and accompanying negativity of life, I turn to the natural world for solace and invariably she provides me with support and perspective.

Every single one of you matters. Each of you contribute to MCC's mission of student success. You are keeping us safe, supporting one another, and fighting against pandemic fatigue. We are educating students who need MCC to make a better life for themselves, their families, and our community.

I am proud and grateful to be an MCC Tribune.

Be well. Stay well.

Is there a quote that reminds you about the important impact you have on student lives? If so, please submit it along with a brief narrative about why the quote inspires you to PresOffice@monroecc.edu. "Quotes That Inspire" are shared with colleagues on Fridays in the MCC Daily Tribune.
