THE NEW CONNECTIONS -- FaceBook & MySpace

Find out where students and adolescents are "hooking up" these days. These "virtual" hot spots are replacing yearbooks with online, public, dynamic daybooks. It's a whole new world of community, sharing, and sometimes fear. We'll take a look at each with someone over 60 who has invaded these spaces and dwells in their nooks and crannies! Facilitated by Tom Proietti, Visual & Performing Arts.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29

SORTING THROUGH THE ALPHABET SOUP OF IMAGE FILES

WMF, GIF, JPG, TIF, GIF, BMP, EPS….are all image file extensions, but when do you use a gif, and when do you use a tiff? How do you go from the high resolution jpeg image that comes from the nifty 5.5 mega pixel digital camera that Santa gave you for Christmas, to a cropped and resized image that can be used on a web page, and one that is correctly formatted for a printed flyer? That is what this Brown Bag session is all about, and it will be done using a free graphics tool that can be downloaded from the web. Facilitated by Carol Burritt, ETS Computing.
