Teach Remotely with Library Resources

MCC librarians are here to help you find resources for you to use in your teaching, create online course guides, provide your students with virtual research support, and more. Contact your department's liaison librarian via email with your questions. They'll work with you to figure out a way to connect your students with needed materials.

Below are some academic supports we can offer from a distance:

Library Collections Online: Our databases are accessible from off-campus. They provide access to newspapers and magazines, academic journals, streaming videos, ebooks, and more.

Many publishers are announcing that they are opening access to their online materials so some resources not previously accessible to us may now be available. ProQuest Ebooks Central, for example, is expanding its holdings to libraries for free until mid-June.

Open Educational Resources (OER): Contact Michelle Beechey (mbeechey@monroecc.edu) if you're interested in incorporating ready-to-use OER materials into your courses. For additional information, visit our guide, Open Educational Resources, Copyright & Creative Commons.

Remote Research Assistance: Students can call us, email us, schedule an online or phone appointment in Starfish, or use our 24/7 chat reference service.

Online Research Guides: Online research guides provide targeted information and resources on a particular topic, discipline, or course. We can create a course guide tailored to the needs of a particular assignment.

College Researcher Badging Program: The College Researcher Badging Program is a set of online tutorials that are designed to help students learn college-level research skills. The Inquisitive Explorer badge will be ready for use in your Blackboard courses by Monday, March 23. This badge consists of 3 missions: Library Navigator, Online Investigator, and Strategic Searcher. Each mission consists of videos and challenges, and takes about 30-60 minutes to complete. Contact Anjali Parasnis-Samar (aparasnis-samar@monroecc.edu) or Alice Wilson (awilson@monroecc.edu) to discuss how you can incorporate digital badges into your course.

Other helpful resources include the following online guides: COVID-19 (Coronavirus): MCC Libraries Updates & Resources and The MCC Libraries: Faculty Resources & Services.

Visit our website or the library tab on MyMCC.

If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you.
