As part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, the World Languages and Cultures Department invites students, faculty and staff to attend a presentation by Mr. Ricardo Arnaiz, a well-known Mexican writer, film director and producer.

Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León (Mexico), in 1974, Ricardo Arnaiz graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana GC (Puebla, Mexico) with a degree in Graphic Design. Arnaiz founded his own Animation Company, ANIMEX PRODUCTIONS, in Puebla in 2000. He has created and directed more than 8 pilots. His film “The Legend of the Nahuala” was awarded with the Diosa de Plata and Ariel in 2008. The film “Nikte” (2009) earned 3 nominations for the Diosa de Plata Award. In 2010 he wrote and coproduced the successful “The Legend of the Crying Lady”, the sequel of his first film, for Anima Estudios. He produced “The Revolution of Juan Escopeta” and received an Ariel Award for Best Animated Movie, making Animex the only animation studio in Mexico to have 2 of these prestigious Academy Awards. Arnaiz is coproducing 3 animated films “El Americano: The Movie” (with the participation of Edward James Olmos), “Team K-9” and “The 3 Mariachis”, as well as his first live-action film, “A World Upside-Down”.
