Trade Magazine Publishes Vogt's Essay on Efforts to Build Optics Workforce

Dr. Alexis Vogt, chair of MCC's optical systems technology program, contributed an essay to Photonics Spectra's annual Education Special Section published in August.

The magazine provides technical and practical information for every aspect of the photonics industry and strives to promote an international dialogue among professionals in the field. Its readership includes engineers and scientists in the photonics industry.

In her essay, Dr. Vogt highlighted MCC's degree program and the new Optics & Photonics Technology Innovation--OPT IN!--initiative, underscoring the importance of experiential learning and the role of industry-based curricula in turning out skilled optics and photonics technicians. She said partnerships among employers, colleges and high schools are keys to inspiring the next generation to pursue an optics/photonics education and careers.
