November 7 Damon City Campus Evacuation


On Monday morning, November 7, the Damon City Campus was briefly evacuated due to chemicals that began to smolder during escalator maintenance on the 5th floor of the Sibley Building. According to Winn Companies, the smoldering escalator motor was extinguished immediately upon discovery by the service technician. As per the college’s safety protocol, the campus was evacuated. The incident was reported at 10:16 am and the all-clear signal was sounded at approximately 10:42 am when normal operations resumed.

The safety of our students and employees is our top priority. Thank you to all who expeditiously evacuated the campus. No one was hurt and no damage resulted from this incident.
