Do you want to learn more about the world outside the United States? If so, please mark your calendar for the following events as part of MCC’s celebration of International Education Week (Nov. 15-19).

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15 - College Hour (12 noon-12:50 PM): WORKSHOPS:
1. Bldg. 9-171  Media in the UK: an overview of media in the United Kingdom and the January MCC on-location course.
2. Bldg. 9-256  Rome, the Eternal City: an overview of the MCC on-location course in Italy, spring 2005.
3. Bldg. 9-264  The Peace Corps from the Inside Out: the Peace Corps from the viewpoint of a former volunteer and staffer.

4. Career Ctr.  Study Abroad Options: what students need to know to plan a semester abroad.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16 – 11:00 AM-2:00 PM: SEMESTER ABROAD FAIR (location to be announced): representatives from other US educational institutions will provide information on their study abroad opportunities.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17 – College Hour (12:00 noon-12:50 PM): WORKSHOPS:
1. 9A-108       MCC in Salamanca: adventures in the summer 2004 MCC on-location course in Spain.
2. 9A-106       The Language of the Brush: the development of Chinese characters from the pictograph into modern Chinese.

3. 9-264        What’s Buddha Doing in the Cornfields? Mapping Religious Diversity in the Rochester Area: the Rochester Pluralism Project.

4. DCC 4033     Reflections from Abroad: Studying in Provence: a creative nonfiction essay on a month studying French culture in Provence.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18 – 12:30-1:20 PM: WORKSHOPS:
1. 6-335        Nuyoricans, a Cultural Identity in the Making: a discussion of the issues of migration, identity, and cultural relativism.

2. 6-341        Italian Opera: a survey of the history of opera in Italy with performances by two MCC students.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19 - College Hour (12:00 noon-12:50 PM): WORKSHOPS:
1. 9-266        Reflections from Abroad: Studying in Provence: a creative nonfiction essay on a month studying French culture in Provence.

2. 9-256        Panel Discussion with International Students
3. 9-264        Signed Languages of the World: demonstration of linguistic differences among signed languages of several countries/regions.
