Alberta Lee to Retire

After 15 years of service to Monroe Community College, Alberta Lee has announced her intention to retire and relocate with her husband to Cleveland, Ohio. Her last day is August 1, 2014.

Alberta joined MCC in 1999 as assistant to the academic vice president. After two years, she moved to the Human Resources Department, first as associate director, then director, and now assistant to the president for human resources and organizational development. In her 15 years at MCC, her commitment to employees has been steadfast; she is a resolute cheerleader for the dedication, talent and impact of our employees. She has provided effective leadership to the college’s focus on wellness and increased our outreach for employee recruitment and development. Alberta has worked closely with Faculty Senate and the Civil Service Professional Development Council to assure that MCC employees and their accomplishments were honored by recognition from the College, SUNY, and regional and national organizations. She was nationally certified as a senior professional in human resources in 2006, and is a member of the College/University Personnel Association and the Society for Human Resource Management.

The United Way of Greater Rochester, Kidney Cares Western New York, SUNY Community College HR Directors organization and many other professional and community organizations will miss Alberta's leadership, as will we.

Alberta’s contributions to MCC are significant and go well beyond her job description: her approach to her role has combined a high standard of professionalism with the ability to create a true sense of community across our large and complex college. She has warmly welcomed our new employees, helped others through more challenging times, and made sure to celebrate each employee's successes. We will have a chance to celebrate her accomplishments and service before she leaves, and I know you join me in wishing her the very best as she moves forward to a new phase of her life.

To assure that the transition in Human Resources is a smooth one, the search process is underway.
