SLN Enrollment On the Rise

State University of New York Chancellor Robert L. King recenty announced that during the 2003-2004 school year enrollments in the award-winning SUNY Learning Network reached an all-time high of 70,669, up 32 percent from 2002-2003’s record enrollment of 53,638.

MCC has been actively involved in the SUNY Learning Network since 1997 when its distance learning program started with four courses. For the upcoming year, MCC will offer over 200 different courses through the SLN system, as well as degree opportunities in criminal justice, business and golf course management. In spring semester 2004, MCC enrolled over 2,000 students in online courses. For the 2003-2004 year, MCC accounted for about 12 percent of the SUNY system's total as reported by Chancellor King. Community colleges accounted for 66 percentage of the total registrations.
