Liberty Partnerships Program Students Appointed to Mayor's Youth Advisory Council

Two students in MCC’s Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP), Abdul Bounds and Javina Wilburn, have been appointed to serve on Mayor Duffy’s Youth Advisory Council.  This exciting initiative allows teens to have a voice at City Hall and become actively engaged in the community. The members meet to discuss the issues that are important to them and present the issues to City government. They also meet with the Mayor on a regular basis to discuss concerns about particular community situations.  The Youth Advisors are involved in analyzing issues and developing strategies to advise the Mayor on his policy priorities. This opportunity will help Abdul and Javina develop their communication and public speaking skills, as well as their skills facilitating interactive group meetings.
