President's Wednesday Message

Welcome to the new academic year!  As you saw and heard at All College Day last week, one of our central goals this year is let our MCC stars shine brightly and share the ways in which the College is Inspiring Every Day.

The story is an all too common one, and I heard it repeated again this morning from our remarkable new Student Trustee, Corina Neelin. Students come to MCC a bit begrudgingly, expecting to find the cliché of “13th Grade.” (Insert collective “sigh” here.)

Then, something transformational happens.  Students experience everything MCC has to offer:

* Our amazingly talented and dedicated faculty and staff

* Our engaging and exciting student life and leadership opportunities

* Our rigorous and innovative academic programs that lead to outstanding transfer colleges or to rewarding careers

* Our state-of-the-art facilities

* Our championship athletics program

* And more!

That’s when they realize why MCC truly is Inspiring Every Day and want to spread the word so others can experience all that MCC has to offer. In fact, that’s why Corina ran for the Board of Trustees position. (You may also recall former Phi Theta Kappa President Elizabeth Kennedy even wrote an essay about us for the Democrat and Chronicle.)

As we kick off this new year, I encourage you to share our Inspiring message. Talk up MCC, your colleagues, and your students. Tell our story. It’s a good one!

Welcome back to MCC! You are at the heart of our inspiration. You make the difference. Thank you!

What MCC story inspires you?  Share it on the
blog.
