Doorway to Success Students Attend Second Annual Men of Color Summit at SUNY Brockport

On Wednesday, October 6, 2010, Milladge Griffin, advisor in the Doorway to Success Program on the Brighton campus, accompanied three students from Monroe Community College, Richard Clark, Michael Matthews, Derrel Weathers, to SUNY Brockport to participate in the Second Annual Men of Color Summit, which featured the Keynote speaker: Emerson U. Fullwood, MCC Foundation Board Member; Senior Corporate Officer and Community Leader from the Xerox Corporation, retired, who addressed, “The New Economic Journey: Will You Be There?” outlining what it will take for students to succeed in their future careers.

The theme for this year’s conference was “The measure of a Man: Mind, Body and Spirit” which included several guest presenters and students from various post secondary institutions in New York state.  Two of our students from MCC’s Men of Excellence student organization, Richard Clark, Vice President, and Michael Matthews, President, had the opportunity to meet Dr. James Pogue, CEO, The College Doctor, and were enlightened by the exchange of information that was shared at the conference; it afforded the students opportunity to experience new innovative approaches to develop the Men of Excellence club for future campus events at Monroe Community College.
