Martin Luther King Jr. Day - A Day On, Not a Day Off

“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.”  – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

MCC's Office of Service-Learning and Rochester AmeriCorps are sponsoring service projects for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 16, 2006.  Across the country, thousands of Americans will engage in community service on MLK Day, honoring the memory and advancing the dreams of Dr. King.  We are in the planning stages of developing opportunities for members of the MCC community to get involved, and we hope to work with the Greater Rochester Martin Luther King Jr. Commission and the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning to both assist with community wide MLK Day celebrations and educate about the dangers of lead paint/poisoning as we do so.  We are also very happy to learn about and assist with any of your projects on that day.  There is no greater way to remember this man and his profound work than to continue the struggle for justice and equality in our own community.

If you would like to get involved, please contact David Pihl at the Office of Service-Learning, 262-1711 or "mailto:dpihl@monroecc.edu"dpihl@monroecc.edu.

We hope to see you all on January 16. Happy holidays!
