New student opportunities in GIST - Venture with SUNY Cortland

MCC has been awarded a $54,200 SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant to lead the creation of a virtual lab and virtual internship opportunities in geospatial information science and technology (GIST). To be implemented as a pilot at MCC and SUNY Cortland, the Open Geospatial Lab will complement the online GIST courses offered at both colleges and allow program students the opportunity to receive peer-to-peer and faculty support via technologies. The project: Open Geospatial Lab and Remote Workforce Opportunities in Rural New York State will also support MCC-led efforts to increase geospatial virtual internships within rural areas of New York and develop a pilot virtual internship, likely with a university in Colombia. Through collaborations and creativity, this innovative project will make it possible for more individuals to access geospatial education and virtual workplace opportunities.

The Dean wishes to recognize the important contributions made to this proposal by the Grants Office working with Jonathan Little, the Principal Investigator, and Christopher Badurek (SUNY Cortland GIST program), Co - Principal Investigator.
