Please join the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) Service Committee on Wednesday, November 8, from 2-3:30 pm in The Forum (Room 3-130) on the Brighton campus for a presentation by Ann White, Ed.D, LMHC, NCC of our Counseling and Advising Center.
“A Qualitative Research Study: Its Form and Substance” will provide you with an opportunity to explore the makings of a doctoral dissertation research study, with examples of the necessary components from Dr. White’s doctoral dissertation.
White will trace the document’s development from the Statement of the Problem and the Purpose of the Study, through the Review of Literature, respondent Recruitment, Procedures, and Data Collection, to its Discussion and Results.
Dr. White hypothesizes that objectivist methods of career counseling limit the career development of individuals. She has created a project that suggests guidelines for group career development instruction using a personal narrative approach. Combining such subjects as the evolution of career counseling, the construction of self-concept, and the relationship of early childhood events and career choice, Dr. White monitors shifts in consciousness from the beginning to the end of her intervention with regard to self-knowledge and career awareness.
