Incorporating Library Resources and Services into Spring 2021 Courses

As your partners in teaching and learning, MCC librarians will help you identify the best information resources for your students. We’d love to collaborate with you! For example, we can recommend the best databases for your assignments or how to integrate library resources and services into your remote or online classes. There are many ways to take advantage of the Libraries’ resources and services—even remotely!

Reach out to your liaison librarian. Your department’s liaison librarian can help you navigate the Libraries’ online and physical collections, so that you can more easily connect your students with the resources that will help them excel with their assignments.

Add a research guide to your course. Do your students get stuck looking for information? The Libraries’ online research guides provide curated recommendations of books, ebooks, videos, databases, websites, and more. We recently redesigned our research guides to make them more user-friendly. Your liaison librarian can create a guide to meet the needs of a specific course or even an assignment.

Encourage your students to seek out one-on-one research support. Students can schedule a Zoom or phone appointment with a librarian, use our 24/7 chat service, or email us at libraries@monroecc.edu. We’ll also be offering a drop-in Library Zoom Room again in the Spring 2021 semester (details forthcoming). Please also consider including a link (https://libguides.monroecc.edu/ask) in your CIS or Bb course space. Some faculty even require their students to seek out assistance from a librarian.

Invite a librarian to visit your class. Librarians provide targeted instruction on a variety of research strategies. We will tailor our instruction for your course or assignment. Fill out the Library Instruction Request Form to request an online visit.

Incorporate the College Researcher Digital Badging Program into your Bb courses. The College Researcher Digital Badging Program is a set of online tutorials designed to help MCC students learn college-level research skills. The Inquisitive Explorer Badge, now available for use in your Blackboard courses, includes the Library Navigator, Online Investigator, and Strategic Searcher mission badges. Reach out to Anjali Parasnis-Samar (aparasnis-samar@monroecc.edu) if you’d like to incorporate this unique and engaging program in your course.
