Credits/Refunds on Spring 2020 Semester Costs

Monroe Community College is here for its students and appreciates the many questions students may have as the College responds to the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Our efforts are designed to keep students safe and healthy as they continue their studies through distance learning modes.

As a unit of the State University of New York, MCC is working quickly to resolve the financial impact our transition to fully distance learning will have on a student's unused campus housing, meals and fees for the remainder of the spring semester while taking into account a student's financial aid awards.

By now students have experienced why MCC is regarded as a leader in online and distance learning. We commend our students and professors for understanding that social distancing is critical to stopping the spread of coronavirus and keeping our campus community safe. New York ordered its public colleges and universities to temporarily move to distance learning modes and your flexibility enabled MCC to do its part.

Teaching and learning, as well as support services and student resources continue; therefore, all MCC students can expect to have their educational needs met and will have the opportunity to complete the credits they began to earn prior to the pandemic. As we transition courses to remote learning, we encourage you to visit www.monroecc.edu and/or reach out to covid19response@monroecc.edu to learn about available student services and supports to help students succeed during this time.

Students living on campus prior to the COVID-19 crisis will receive a refund or credit for housing fees and meal plan fees (if applicable) based on the proportionate time between when they leave campus housing--or as cleared by MCC Housing & Residence Life--and the end of the spring semester.

Students with meal plans will receive a refund or credit for the unused portion of their meal plans as of May 30, 2020.

All students will receive prorated refunds or credits for certain other fees for services that have been discontinued due to the COVID-19 emergency. The calculation of the amount of the refund or credit is being determined for each of these fees.

Credits or refund approaches will be finalized as soon as possible and certainly before the end of the spring semester. We recognize that this is a difficult time. If your students have a critical financial need, please encourage them to contact MCC's Financial Aid Office at financialaid@monroecc.edu or Student Accounts Office at studentaccounts@monroecc.edu.
