Men's basketball team rises to No. 2 in nation

The MCC men's basketball team is no stranger to the NJCAA Division II Top 25, but a 6-0 start has the Tribunes ranked higher than they have been in quite a while.

Victories in the Central Maine, Pete Pavia, and Essex tournaments have earned MCC the No. 2 ranking in the latest Division II poll.  The Tribunes received one first-place vote and are rated only behind Mott Community College (Flint, Mich.), a team MCC defeated 58-51 a year ago.

The Tribunes are led by a balanced attack, with three players averaging 14 or more points per game.  Sophomore point guard Joe Lindsey leads the way with 14.7 points per game while also dishing out 5.8 assists per contest.  Sophomore forwards Kevin Draughon and Vince Mosley both average 14 per game, with Mosley pulling down 8.2 rebounds and Draughon grabbing seven.

Freshman guard Jonathan Moore has had a hot hand as of late and is scoring 10.5 points per game, while sophomore guard Danny Owusu is stuffing the stat sheets to the tune of 9.5 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals per contest.

The Tribunes are home this weekend, hosting Monroe College of the Bronx at 2 p.m. Saturday.
