Tips to Stay Safe from Cyber Crime

Often, scammers will contact you pretending to be representing MCC, people you know, or companies you use. Be very suspicious when you are contacted by anyone and any of the following occur:

1.      You are asked to provide personal identifiable information (PII).
2.      You feel pressured and are told you must do something NOW.
3.      You are threatened with law enforcement or other action such as account deactivation if you do not comply
4.      You are asked to purchase gift cards as a form of payment.
5.      You supposedly receive unexpected funds and are asked to return them.  (Hint:  The original funds are not real.)
6.      You are asked to approve or decline unexpected transactions using your mobile device.
7.      You are asked to share usernames or passwords to accounts.

Remember, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
