Building Services's Golf Tournament Benefits Jefferson Avenue Childhood Development Center

The 4th Annual Building Services Invitational Golf Tournament was held Friday, August 7, 2009, at Arrowhead Golf Club in Spencerport, N.Y.  This annual tournament is hosted by the Facilities’ Department, Building Services, and was open to all employees.  The event is held on the first Friday in August.

Eight (8) teams (32 golfers) competed for bragging rights and prizes.  The day was filled with glorious weather which is amazing  considering what little nice weather we had this past summer, and fun was had by all as they participated in the scramble (best ball) format with a shotgun start at noon.

This year organizers held a 50/50 raffle and an additional ball/shot contest on the “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drive” holes for $5 per ball.  Contestants could hit an additional ball/shot towards those winning holes, but those did not count in their overall score.  Proceeds for the 50/50 and additional ball/shot went to the Jefferson Avenue Community Development Center where vice president Heze Simmons is board chair.

The total money raised, from the additional contests was $325.  Lee Struble won the 50/50 raffle and graciously donated his winnings to the Jefferson Avenue Community Development Center.  Vice president Heze Simmons generously matched those monies, for a total donation of $650!

Mark your 2010 calendars for the 5th Annual Building Services Invitational Golf Tournament to be held  August 6, 2010.
