Campus Center Plasma Screens

If you have visited the new Campus Center, you may have noticed a number of plasma screens throughout the building. They are mounted above the Student Information Desk, throughout the dining area and in the conference center. Look to the plasma screens for class cancellations, upcoming events, athletic team scores, and college news and announcements. The screens, and the computer wizardry behind them, are an exciting new way to reach students and employees with news from your department or program.

Use of the screens is guided by the Digital Signage Network (DSN) Committee which has been meeting for the last few months to set policies and procedures for this new communication tool. The DSN Committee has identified departments that are key suppliers of information; some of those departments have already been trained in using the system. The Campus Center, Public Affairs, Conferences and Events, and Transfer and Placement departments have access to the system and can post announcements. Other information on the plasma screens is pulled directly from the college’s web site.

SO WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU HAVE NEWS TO POST? If your news or event is sponsored or co-sponsored by the Campus Center (including any student club), contact Jodi Oriel. Almost anything else should be directed to Public Affairs. Draft a brief announcement and send it to pburdick@monroecc.edu or publicaffairs@monroecc.edu. We’ll add it to the rotation schedule.

Questions? If they’re technical, direct them to Sean Baker, Computing. Otherwise, direct them to Cynthia Cooper, Public Affairs.
