MCC Earns Reaccreditation from MSCHE

I am delighted to inform you that the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has reaffirmed MCC’s accreditation, commending our College for the quality of our self-study process and report.

The decision was issued at MSCHE’s June 23 meeting, following MCC’s two-year self-study process and the MSCHE evaluation team’s site visit in March 2016.

While not unexpected, given the visiting team’s report, this is welcome news and a significant achievement, as accreditation is an expression of the confidence that MSCHE has in our College’s mission and goals, performance, and resources. Accreditation reaffirms the high quality of our academic programs and student support services, the effectiveness and efficiency of our operations, the quality of our faculty and staff, and the integrity of our governance process.

MCC’s self-study report and the evaluation team’s report are available online. (It is password-protected for employees only.)  In addition, a video recording of the evaluation team’s presentation can be accessed online from any on-campus computer. Both reports were considered by MSCHE commissioners in their deliberations.

While achieving reaccreditation is certainly a reason to pause and celebrate, our focus is already on following up on the MSCHE visiting team’s recommendations (most of which were recommendations we gave ourselves). Those charged with fulfilling those recommendations are also charged with keeping the College community apprised of their work. Watch the MCC Daily Tribune for updates.

My thanks go to everyone for your outstanding work in helping MCC achieve accreditation and for your many contributions to MCC’s success. Our self-study report was completed through the participation of more than 125 faculty, staff and administrators. My special gratitude goes out to Holly Preische and Bill Dunning, co-chairs of the MCC Middle States Steering Committee, for their inspiring leadership, dedication and tireless work.

Congratulations on this tremendously successful college-wide endeavor and this well-deserved recognition of our College’s excellence!
