MCC Web Re-Envision Project 2014-2015

The College’s website www.monroecc.edu has millions of visitors each year, making it a primary doorway to MCC for our key audiences. It’s a particularly important tool as we connect with our prospective students— from first contact to the moment they walk through the door as a new MCC student.

Overall, the MCC website’s central mission is to provide the most desired, useful, accurate, externally-focused content to prospective students and their families in clear, easily-understood digital-based formats so visitors can connect with the college, apply for admission, register for classes, and plan the future success they desire.

For that reason, and to support MCC’s strategic plan, we’ve been working with enrollment management consultant Noel Levitz to consider how to focus the Web experience of those key visitors.  We’ve looked at national higher education trends, as well as results of research conducted with MCC faculty, staff, and students, and we’re now using that data to make crucial decisions about our externally-facing website.

And so, the Web Re-envision Project has begun! The project will update the content, structure and design of the www.monroecc.edu to guide potential students to the information and services they need throughout their college search and enrollment process. These updates will help us reflect the excellence of MCC – our programs, departments, faculty and staff – and support our shared mission of providing potential students access to a quality education and ongoing success.

Of course, the project will require a great deal of our internal Web team’s time and talents. Because of this, future Web work requests will be evaluated and prioritized on a case by case basis; prioritization criteria include: community safety impact; legal requirements or other key mandates; degree of enrollment impact; accreditation impact; strategic plan alignment; alignment with Web mission and philosophy; and work already planned for inclusion as part of the web re-envision project. We’ll share even more detail about our prioritization plan soon but please expect that Web requests may be deferred or delayed during this period.

While we work on this project, which is set to debut in 2015, we’ll keep the College up to date with other articles in The MCC Daily Tribune and with posts in our new blog, https://blogs.monroecc.edu/web/. As well, we’ll be holding a series of open Lunch-and-Learn conversations throughout the fall, so stay tuned!
