Dr. Mary Ann DeMario Presents at National Convening

From January 16-17, Mary Ann M. DeMario, Ph.D. (Institutional Research; Single Moms Success Design Challenge) attended a convening of the Postsecondary Achievement for Parents Initiative at the Aspen Institute. She gave two presentations: Collecting Data on Student-Parents and MCC's Student-Parents: Their Unique Characteristics and Experiences.

The Aspen Institute is a non-profit, non-partisan, international think tank that promotes values-based leadership and the exchange of ideas. Its Postsecondary Success for Parents Initiative is a partnership with Omidyar Network to raise awareness of and share recommendations to better support Student-Parents. The initiative is guided by a 2Gen (two-generation) approach in which children and their parents are simultaneously supported in order to move the whole family toward educational success and economic security.

MCC is recognized as an exemplar in higher education because it is the only college in the United States that collects data on students' parental status.
