Charles V. Clarke, Father of Charlie R. Clarke


I am saddened to inform you of the passing of Charles V. Clarke, father of Professor Charlie Clarke, Psychology, on January 8 in New York City.

Mr. Clarke was 87 years old and served his country during World War II in the Air Corps. He was an airplane inspector and served for a tour on the Island of Saipan. Mr. Clarke was the proprietor of P.J. Clarke's Saloon in NYC from 1946 to 1989. He was married to Margaret "Peggy" (Cardon) Clarke from 1946 until her death in 2007. Survivors include his brother, seven children, 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held yesterday, January 12, in Schoharie, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Schoharie. Burial will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Clarke to N.Y.
