March is National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition month. As we think about spring, we tend to think about getting back into shape for summer activities and putting away the bulky sweaters and jackets that may hide a few extra pounds we’ve added.

When it comes to healthy weight management, small changes do add up.

Did you know?

·         Cutting out 100 calories per day can decrease your weight by 10 lbs. per year.

·         Using smaller dishes and bowls help you to eat less, because you don’t go for 2nd helpings.

·         When eating snacks from the package, you tend to eat the whole package instead of 1 serving.  It is better to take out one serving and put the package away.

·         A serving size of chips is about 14 chips!

·         When glasses are short and wide we tend to fill them with more fluid and drink more.  This is good if it is water, but if it is soda, better to use a tall thin glass and you will drink less.
