Library Poetry Wall!

April is Poetry Month!

The LeRoy V. Good Library (Brighton Campus) has exciting plans in store for a celebration of National Poetry Month, and if you write poetry, you may want to start writing now. We will be creating the Library Poetry Wall (with the help of all you poets out there!), with a little library twist.

The Poetry Wall will be an actual wall, just inside the main doors to the LeRoy V. Good Library. We will furnish catalog cards at the wall as well as at the Writing Center. You may use the blank backs of the cards or incorporate the text of the old catalog cards to create a unique vision of “found poetry.” The only rule is that your poem has to fit on one side of one card. You may then come to the Library to post your card on the wall and have a chance to read all of the other poems!  The wall will be on display all of April, and you may add to it throughout the month; we hope to cover the entire wall with your poetry. Everyone in the college community is encouraged to participate.

The Library Poetry Wall project is inspired by the Card Catalog Poetry Project created by poet/librarian Lisa Forrest at Buffalo State College (see https://www.buffalostate.edu/library/ccpp/). Come to the Library to see some of the contributions from that project, as well as a display of poetry and poetry writing books.
